The animated short film EDEN uses collage as an editing technique. The visual shock caused by the montage of heterogeneous images invites the viewer to adopt a critical stance. The story of humanity's decline is replayed here from its origins against a backdrop borrowed from current events. The question of the end echoes that of the origin. This gives rise to what Walter Benjamin calls a Copernican revolution in history, where it is not the present that revolves around the past, but the past that revolves around the present. Representations of Adam and Eve from classical painting play the starring role, that of humanity. Accompanied by a procession of animals and children's toys, they move from adventure to adventure in an ‘earthly paradise’ that is nothing other than our real environment. Their exotic, action-packed experiences, full of mystery and emotion, culminate in a catastrophic drama.
